Only from a firstborn...
Often, when the kids all go downstairs to play or watch a video, I'll say to Corene, "Can you keep an eye on Isaac while you're down there?"
(She's actually very responsible in this job, she takes the role very seriously. If Isaac is getting into something, it's a millisecond before I hear her correcting him and redirecting him... and usually, she does it gently, and he responds well. Aaaahh, this is one reason why I maintain that having 3 children is easier than having one child.)
(Behind the usually, of course, there are the times when this doesn't work so well, and I have to come intervene when Isaac is SCREAMING and Corene is "helping".)
Anyway... yesterday I came downstairs and sat on the floor where the kids were playing, and Corene walked up to me and said,
"Mommy, can you keep an eye on Isaac for me for a second while I go potty?"

This made me smile. Thanks for the great post.
Too funny! Butter likes to remind me of "things" all the time. I remind her that I am in fact capable of being the mommy. HA :) I love it when they get "sassy"
You've trained her well! :)
It was so good to meet you yesterday! It makes reading your blog even more fun.
I'm a firstborn myself, and I'm a CHAMPION delegater. :)
I agree with Heather--fun to meet you!
she'll be an awesome mommy just like you someday! she seems so old and responsible! very cute.
Heeelarious! Seriously - I love it when kids say cute stuff like that because they don't even know that's it's funny...I suppose that's why it's so funny. Hehe. And thanks for saying having 3 is easier than one...I read it to hubby (we have two...and I want four). LOL.
Adorable! That'll be a great story to tell her when she's a mom. You know, eons and lifetimes from now. :o)
Blessings, Whitney
Hi! That's SO funny. I think my daughter might say something similar. I love how kids say funny things. Hope you're doing well!
That made me laugh outloud! I could totally hear Anna say that to me someday... Right now Anna and Ruthie are helping me pottytrain Rachel, and it is so cute how they read her books and even help her wipe... AND they love to do it! yipee! Three is WAY easier than one!
hahahaha...ROFL glad to know it's not only at my house.
That is SO funny. Natalie hasn't said that (yet). But I'll expect to hear it any day now. Sounds exactly like something she would say.
But it's nice to have a second set of hands, isn't it? One of the blessings of having the oldest be a girl. The younger siblings automatically get a second mom.
